Goal and Learning Outcomes

This course gives you a comprehensive introduction to basic emergency care when responding to a medical emergency for an adult. Covers CPR, using an automated external defibrillator (AED) and basic first aid knowledge. Topics include:

  • Caring for cardiac arrest: CPR
  • Using an AED
  • Multiple provider approach to CPR
  • Choking
  • Control of bleeding
  • Shock
  • Stroke
  • Poisoning
  • Altered mental status
  • Head, neck, and back injuries
  • Nosebleed
  • Burns
  • Heat and cold emergencies
