Goal and Learning Outcomes

Pediatric ambulatory care consists of well-child and preventive care and treating and managing acute and chronic health conditions. Nurses provide holistic care to the pediatric patient by synthesizing their nursing assessments with caregiver concerns. Nurses collaborate with the healthcare team to identify and address common pediatric health problems encountered in the ambulatory care setting.


After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify 10 common pediatric health problems seen in ambulatory care settings
  • Discuss the signs and symptoms of the 10 problems
  • Describe treatment and management for these problems
  • Describe the etiology, epidemiology, and nursing process for common pediatric problems in ambulatory care.
  • List the diagnostic testing and treatment for common pediatric problems in ambulatory care.
  • Discuss nursing interventions for common pediatric problems in ambulatory care.
