This course provides nursing and respiratory therapy professionals an overview of the pathophysiology, signs, symptoms, and interventions for CP in children.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most prevalent motor disability in children. CP is caused by injury to the developing brain, usually before birth, and involves movement, muscle tone, and posture. This course will explain the pathophysiology of CP and the signs and symptoms associated with children and adolescents who have CP. It will also identify appropriate interventions aimed at the needs of children with CP at the various periods of their life and disease.

After taking this course, you should be able to:

  • Recall the pathophysiology of CP in children and adolescents.
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of CP in children and adolescents.
  • Determine appropriate interventions for children and adolescents with CP in home healthcare.
