Goal and Learning Outcomes

The goal of this course is to equip nurses with knowledge of the unique needs of people who are homeless with mental illness and offers a framework for applying interventions for this population. After taking this course, you should be able to:
  • Describe the unique needs of people who are homeless and have mental illness.
  • Explain how the history of treatment for people with mental illness has contributed to the state of homelessness and mental illness today.
  • Describe evidence-based practices for care of patients with mental illness who are homeless.
  • Prioritize interventions for the homeless population with mental illness.
