Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent dysrhythmia linked to significant complications, including a fivefold increased stroke risk and substantial healthcare challenges due to its chronic nature and progression. Effective AF management necessitates a comprehensive understanding of its stages, associated conditions, and diverse symptom presentations. Despite advancements, challenges persist in fully integrating diagnostic tools, treatment strategies, and patient education into clinical practice. Additionally, addressing implicit biases and disparities in AF diagnosis and treatment is essential to ensure equitable care for all populations.
- Recognize cardiac anatomy and circulation as it relates to the stages, coexisting conditions, and signs and symptoms of AF.
- Identify the diagnostic approach to and complications of AF.
- Recall the principles of AF treatment and patient education.
