Nurses should remain informed about scope of practice, standards of practice, and conceptual framework aspects of their fields and specialties of nursing. Ambulatory care is a specialty area which has its own scope and standards of practice and conceptual framework. Can you describe them? The goal of this course is to discuss potential roles for nurses and the scope and standards of practice for ambulatory nursing as established by the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN).

  • Describe the AAACN dimensions of practice and the relationship to ambulatory nursing
  • Identify AAACN standards for nursing care and apply to preceptoring and preceptees

  • Identify characteristics of professional behavior in ambulatory care settings
  • Examine the AAACN conceptual framework for ambulatory nursing.
