This course provides nurses with an overview of TBI and strategies to care for individuals with traumatic brain injury.Goals and Learning Outcomes
When working with individuals who have incurred a brain injury, it is important to understand how the injury affects overall functioning. In this course, you will learn about the impairments that occur because of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the types of assessments available to determine the severity and outcome of the injury.
The goal of this course is to educate nurses in post-acute care with the information needed to support and care for the individual with a TBI.
- Recognize the classification types and effects of TBIs.
- Describe assessment severity scales and their use when assessing persons with TBIs.
- Identify at least five strategies to help manage TBIs.
