Online education

The focus on online education programs in the July issue of Nurse.com prompted me to tell you my story. I was fortunate to find the master’s in diabetes education and management program at Teacher’s College, Columbia University. It’s an interdisciplinary program, although most of us in the group were RNs. The program is entirely online. I did not know if I was going to like an online-only program, but it was designed to create many opportunities for me to connect with classmates. I also did not know how I was going to manage assignments while working full-time, but the professors guided me along the way. I highly recommend online programs and the program at Teacher’s College. I graduated last year and often pause to look at my diploma hanging on my office wall to say, “Wow, I have a master’s degree!”
