The American Organization of Nurse Executives has elected Joan Shinkus Clark, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CENP, FACHE, FAAN, to serve as president-elect beginning Jan. 1, followed by a one-year term as president beginning Jan. 1, 2017.
In addition, AONE has elected a new treasurer and four members of its board of directors.
Clark, senior vice president and system chief nurse executive at Texas Health Resources in Arlington, Texas, represents nursing at the senior executive level at Texas Health, one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit health systems in the U.S., according to a news release. She oversees nursing practice and the standardization and alignment of nursing care through the implementation of evidence-based clinical and managerial standards of practice.
In addition, Clark serves as the American Hospital Association’s appointed commissioner on The Joint Commission Board. A Magnet appraiser with the American Nurse Credentialing Center, Clark holds a doctorate of executive nursing practice from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. She is a Wharton Nurse Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives Fellow and a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
Elected to serve as AONE treasurer was Lamont M. Yoder, MSN, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, chief executive officer at Banner Gateway Medical Center and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, Ariz.
Board members elected to three-year terms include Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Pomona, N.J.; Stuart D. Downs, DNP, MSA, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, CENP, CPHQ, chief nursing officer, Eastside Medical Center, Snellville, Ga.; M. Lindell Joseph, PhD, RN, clinical assistant professor and MSN/CNL program coordinator, University of Iowa College of Nursing, Iowa City; and Rachel Behrendt, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer, Banner University Medical Center, Phoenix.
