FAU celebrates at donor appreciation event

Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing recently held a special donor appreciation event in the College’s atrium at FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
“This has been a landmark year for the college of nursing, and it was made possible by our many generous supporters who give their time, talent and treasure to ensure our success today and in the future,” Marlaine Smith, PhD, dean of the college, said at the event. “We thank you and look forward to writing the next chapter of our college’s history together.”
In 2014, the college of nursing received a number of gifts from community members and groups to support its education, research and community practice, according to a news release.
Last year, FAU became the first university in Florida’s state university system to admit freshmen directly into nursing. Subsequently, the college of nursing initiated its Lamplighter scholarship program, awarding half of the college’s freshman class with $500 scholarships.
Notable attendees included the college’s namesake, business owner and South Florida philanthropist Christine E. Lynn, RN, who recently made gifts toward funds aimed at retaining top faculty and students.
The college’s advisory board members were recognized for their contributions toward the college’s success. Members of the College’s Caring Hearts Auxiliary volunteer corps also were recognized.
