Can nurses find summer-only work?

Dear Donna,

I am a stay-at-home mom but would like to work during the summer when I have better child care. Is there anything you can suggest for obtaining temporary summer-only jobs?
Wants to Work Over the Summer

Dear Wants to Work Over the Summer,

There are plenty of summer-only jobs for nurses. You can be a nurse at a day camp or sleep-over camp, work in the health department at a sports arena or first-aid station at a beach or amusement park. These are just a few examples.

I suggest you contact some nursing or healthcare employment agencies and register with them. They may have opportunities such as the ones I mention above but may have other temp jobs as well. Some agencies only do hospital bedside placement so make enough calls until you find the right agencies.

Search the Nurse.com job database for jobs in your area. Use summer as the keyword and then enter your state and see what you find.

Best wishes,
Donna
