Advocate South Suburban names RN as assistant clinical manager for medical oncology

Rashana Thompson, MSN, RN, has been named assistant clinical manager, medical oncology, at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill., according to a news release.

0629_eIL_RashanaThompsonThompson will assist the clinical manager in providing administrative and clinical leadership, and she will assist with planning, coordinating and managing personnel and resources to provide the highest quality patient care in a cost-effective manner, according to the release. Thompson also will provide for the ongoing educational and professional development of staff.

Thompson began working at Advocate in 1997 as a food service aid, then advanced to positions as an OR scheduler and a nursing assistant. Her career as an RN began in June 2005 as a staff nurse at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Ill. Over the next 10 years, she held various positions within Advocate Health Care, including charge nurse, case manager and admissions coordinator, according to the release.

Thompson earned her BSN from St. Xavier University in Chicago and her Masters of Science in Nursing in Leadership Administration from Olivet Nazerene University in Bourbonnais, Ill.
