New graduate nursing program

In the article “Hofstra, North Shore-LIJ to launch School of Graduate Nursing and Health Professions”, I was delighted to hear they joined together to open graduate nursing and physician assistant programs.

Many medical students are majoring in specialties due to the debt they incur to become physicians and the malpractice fees. This is leaving a gap open that needs to be closed in the family practice field.

Because more people are being insured (resulting in more people seeking medical attention) and the aging population, job opportunities are available for advanced practice nurses and physician assistants. As I complete my bachelor’s degree in nursing, I plan to continue my education. It’s nice to see what Hofstra plans to offer.
