A nurse at Carroll Hospital for nearly 25 years, Wetzel was chosen for his exceptional patient care, positive attitude and expertise which make all of his patients feel reassured that they are in the best of hands, according to the release.

“Lance is an excellent nurse who is always focused on doing what is best for the patient and our nursing team,” Jim Ridge, executive director of cardiovascular and diagnostic imaging services and former critical care unit manager. “He has the ability to put others at ease, and his extensive nursing knowledge ensures his patients are appropriately cared for.”

Wetzel’s can-do attitude makes for a valuable resource to other nurses on his unit while working his overnight shifts, and he can always be relied on to step in and assist his fellow nurses whenever there is a need, according to the release.

“Lance consistently raises the bar with his excellent nursing, communication and teamwork skills,” Stephanie Reid, BSN, RN, MBA, MHA, vice president of quality and CNO, said in the release. “Providing exceptional patient care and service are his top priorities and make him truly deserving of this honor.”
