Lillian Watkins, MSN, RN, was recently named manager of 2 East and the centralized telemetry unit at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill. She took on her new role on April 20 after serving as interim manager in the unit for the previous four months, according to a news release.
Watkins is responsible for managing and evaluating nursing practice, operations and services on her unit to ensure patients receive safe, quality care, and also will oversee the department budget and is responsible for staff development, evaluation and retention. As manager, Watkins will promote patient safety and continuous quality improvement to ensure clinical standards, according to the release.
Watkins had been an assistant clinical manager at Advocate South Suburban Hosptial since 2012. She began her nursing career at the hospital in 2008, after previously serving as a clerical associate. Watkins earned her BSN from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz., and her MSN from University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill.
