Georgetown professor chosen to lead International Society of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses

Edilma L. Yearwood, PhD, RN, PMHCNS-BC, FAAN, associate professor of nursing and interim chairwoman of the department of nursing at the School of Nursing & Health Studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., recently was voted president-elect of the International Society of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses, according to a news release.

Yearwood will serve in the role for one year before assuming the presidency in 2016. The results of the election were announced at the society’s annual meeting in Seattle.

“I am deeply honored and humbled,” Yearwood said in the release. “I look forward to working with my colleagues at ISPN to increase the society’s visibility, foster partnerships and elevate our global presence.”
