Mum’s the word: 8 things you shouldn’t say to a patient

Ever wonder what life would be like if patients could read our minds? Or have you — maybe as a new nurse with good intentions — said the wrong thing and instantly wished you could rewind those last 5 seconds?

Fortunately most of us have a pretty effective filter when it comes to our thoughts. But every once in a while, the filter fails and we say things we really, really wish we could take back. Here’s a list of 8 things every nursing professional should stay mum about. What would you add?

  1. Are you the mom? (when she is the wife)
