NUMC infection control nurse earns APIC Chapter Leadership Award

Perlita Kabigting, MSN, RN, ANP-C, CIC, director of infection prevention and control at Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, N.Y., has been selected by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology to receive the 2015 APIC Chapter Leadership Award, according to a news release.

In a letter to Kabigting, the APIC nominating and awards committee chair, Brenda Helms, BSN, RN, MBA/HCM, CIC, wrote, “On behalf of the Long Island chapter board of directors and the APIC nominating and awards committee, we would like to congratulate you on being selected for this award. You will be recognized for your achievements in developing members and advancing APIC during the 2015 annual conference In Nashville. We admire your dedication to the profession and to APIC.”

APIC has more than 15,000 members nationally, and its mission is to create a safer world through the prevention of infection, according to the release.
