Rebecca Wiseman, PhD, RN, associate professor and chairwoman of the University of Maryland School of Nursing’s program at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, Md., has been appointed to the governing board of Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville. Wiseman is serving a three-year term as a community board member, according to a news release.
The Shady Grove Medical Center governing board is composed of 19 members appointed by the Adventist HealthCare Board of Trustees. Its purpose is to support the mission, values and well-being of the medical center by elevating the stature and success of its programs, services and capabilities. Comprised of business, education, physician, healthcare and community leaders, the governing board provides counsel to the Shady Grove Medical Center and its president, according to the release.
“It is a great honor to be invited to serve on the Shady Grove Medical Center governing board,” Wiseman said in the release. “I look forward to working with colleagues who are committed to providing superior healthcare services to their clients. Nurses bring unique perspectives to hospital governing boards and I am excited about this opportunity to make an important difference in the delivery of healthcare in Montgomery County.”
Wiseman also serves on the workforce investment board of the Allied Health Industry Alliance in Montgomery County and the advisory board of the Montgomery College nursing program. She also is part of the Maryland Action Coalition, which is responsible for implementing the Institute of Medicine’s Future of Nursing recommendations, according to the release.
