The OB/GYN department at Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, N.Y., was been named a 2014 recipient of the Healthgrades Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award. The honor is the third consecutive in the category for NUMC, according to a news release.
“I am delighted to recognize NUMC’s OB/GYN department for its award, a testament to the expertise of the clinical staff for attaining levels of optimal performance required to ensure best outcomes for patients undergoing gynecologic procedures,” Victor F. Politi, president and CEO of NuHealth System, said in the release.
From 2010 through 2012, patients treated in hospitals receiving five stars from Healthgrades for gynecologic surgery, such as NUMC, have on average a 57.45% lower risk of experiencing complications than if they were treated in hospitals receiving one star, according to the release.
“NUMC’s OB/GYN staff deserve praise and recognition for this prestigious national distinction bestowed upon them,” said Victor Scarmato, MD, acting chief medical officer for NuHealth.
