Ansell invites nominations for HERO nurse award

Ansell, a protection solutions company whose products include personal protective equipment and medical gloves announced the kickoff of its third annual Ansell Cares HERO (Heal, Educate, Reach, Overcome) Nurse Service Award, which recognizes nurses who have made lasting impressions on their peers, their patients, their profession and their communities, according to a news release.

The 2015 HERO Nurse Service Award will expand internationally, with implementation in Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

“The Ansell Cares HERO Nurse Service Award was established as a way to demonstrate our appreciation and admiration for nurses: their professionalism, dedication and compassion,” Anthony Lopez, president and general manager of Ansell’s medical global business unit, said in the release. “As a truly global company, it’s only fitting that for 2015 we expand this already successful U.S. program to include nurses from around the world.”

During last year’s program, website visits exceeded 40,000 and more than 30,000 votes were cast to identify the 10 award recipients.

U.S. residents are invited to nominate their nurse hero online through April 9. Voting begins April 10 and continues through May 12.

The top 10 nominees with the most votes will receive the award, which includes a plaque and a nursing reference book, and will have their stories profiled online. In addition, Ansell will make a donation to a selected charity in the name of the nominee with the most votes, according to the release.
