Judy Padula, MSN, RN, has received the Divisional Leader award from the Organization of Nurse Executives of New Jersey. Padula is the systems director, surgical services for St. Josephs Healthcare System, Paterson, N.J.
The award was designed to recognize a nurse leader responsible for a division or multiple departments, but who does not serve as a CNO, according to a news release.
Judy is a wonderful example of passion and dedication working hand-in-hand, Maria Brennan, DNP, RN, CPHQ, CNO for SJHS and vice president, patient care services, St. Josephs Regional Medical Center, said in the release. In her more than 30 years as an integral part of the St. Josephs Healthcare System family, she has excelled in a number of roles and advocates for her fellow nurses to continually grow professionally, academically and personally.
Padula oversees systems and services at both St. Josephs Regional Medical Center and St. Josephs Wayne Hospital. Her responsibilities include a cumulative 22 operating rooms, four gastrointestinal suites, 26 post-anesthesia care unit bays, 37 pre- and post-operative beds, central sterile processing department, pre-admission testing department and multiple ambulatory surgery centers.
She participates in hospitalwide strategic planning processes to develop short- and long-term goals for the surgical division to assure compliance with patient care standards and regulatory agency requirements.
As a member of Healing the Children, Padula has been on several medical missions to countries, including the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Panama.
