FAU’s College of Nursing receives monetary donation

Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, Boca Raton, Fla., recently received two gifts totaling $300,000 from local philanthropist, business owner and nurse, Christine E. Lynn, RN.

A $100,000 gift will support an endowed scholarship fund for students who intend to work at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, according to a news release. The $200,000 gift will support the college’s faculty talent retention fund, which assists in retaining the best and brightest faculty.

“We are extremely grateful for Mrs. Lynn’s generous support,” Marlaine Smith, PhD, dean of the College of Nursing, said in a news release. “These gifts demonstrate the love she has for this community as an investment in retaining top talent in the local area, both the nurses who graduate from our programs and our dynamic faculty members.”

The college’s faculty talent retention fund addresses the need to reward and retain its most accomplished faculty members, who are heavily recruited by universities throughout the country due to a critical national nurse faculty shortage, according to the release.

Lynn’s philanthropic efforts have provided much to the college, including a generous $10 million gift to fund and name the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing building.
