Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania accepting scholarships on behalf of VFW

The Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania, a supporting organization of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, is accepting applications for the 2015 Jack E. Barger Sr. Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund, according to a news release.

The scholarship fund, administered on behalf of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, was established by the Department of Pennsylvania VFW in memory of the late department commander Jack E. Barger Sr. Six $1,000 scholarships are being awarded to nursing students who meet at least one of the following criteria: active duty service member; U.S. veteran or child/spouse of a veteran or active duty service member; resident of Pennsylvania; or an undergraduate student. The recipient also is required to attend a local VFW district meeting to accept the award, according to the release.

Selection of scholarship recipients is made by a lottery drawing. To apply, visit www.theNFP.org. Applications must be received by April 30. Questions can be directed to NFP Communications Coordinator Jennifer Neidig at [email protected] or 717-798-8942.
