How can a nurse in Nigeria find a good nursing school and get a scholarship?

Question:

Dear Donna,

I am a Nigerian registered and a licensed nurse, with about three years working experience. Can you provide information on how I can find admission into a good school in the U.S. or elsewhere that offers a scholarship? I really want to further my education.

Nigerian Nurse

Dear Nancy replies:

Dear Nigerian Nurse,

You don’t mention what level of nursing education you are looking for (bachelors, masters, doctoral) but you can search by U.S. state and the type of program at the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (directory.ccnecommunity.org/reports/accprog.asp) for accredited programs.

You would have to contact each school and speak to their international student counselor about admission, financial aid and scholarships.

I also suggest you contact the National Association of Nigerian Nurses in North America (www.nannna.org). They may be able to further help and support you in your goal.

Best wishes,
Donna
