Einstein nurse receives inspiration award

Christine Ehnow, BSN, RN, PCCN, clinical nurse on the telemetry unit in cardiology at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, was honored with the 2014 Vanessa Hawkins-Sellers Inspiration Award. Ehnow was nominated by her colleagues for her leadership, teaching and mentoring abilities and for promoting professional nursing, according to a news release. The award is named for Vanessa Hawkins-Sellers, who was a nurse on the cardiac care unit who died in 2009.

Ehnow’s joined the telemetry unit in 2009. She took on staff leadership roles on several nursing committees, including representing her colleagues on the Network Nursing Council. She mentors her fellow nurses and encourages new staff to pursue their certification. Ehnow also has demonstrated her commitment to community work by arranging several donation drives to collect items for homeless shelters in the Philadelphia area, according to a news release.
