Holy Name Medical Center opens new Renal Care Center

Holy Name Medical Center, Teaneck, N.J., and Fresenius Medical Care North America, a national network of dialysis facilities, announced the opening of the Holy Name Renal Care Center Nov. 7.

The 30-station dialysis facility in the medical center has been relocated from another part of the facility into a newly rebuilt space. It enables Fresenius’ local team of healthcare professionals to better serve Bergen County’s population of patients with chronic kidney disease, according to a news release.

“Holy Name has been known as a center for excellence for dialysis since the 1960s,” Sheryl Slonim, DNP, RN-BC, NEA-BC, executive vice president of patient care services and CNO at Holy Name, said in the release. “We have a commonality of mission with Fresenius that will ensure our patients continue to get the highest level of care they’ve received here for decades.”

The new Holy Name care center offers traditional in-center daytime dialysis, as well as access to regional home dialysis programs, acording to the release. It also offers other dialysis patient services, including a kidney transplant support program, vascular care, anemia management, nutrition counseling, bone disease management and social worker support.

The 10,000-square-foot renal facility’s treatment stations can each support up to four daily shifts of patients.

Every station features a reclining chair and an individual media system with wireless Internet access for patients who bring their own computers or Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones.
