Question:
Dear Donna,
Do you have any advice regarding finding jobs for LPNs or how to get the job after the interview?
Looking for LPN Jobs
Dear Donna replies:
Dear Looking for LPN Jobs,
The basics of looking for a job are the same whether you are an RN or LPN. Read Ten steps to a successful job search (www.Nurse.com/cardillo/ten-steps).
Once you have an interview, you still have more work to do. Regardless of how the interview went, follow-up can help seal the deal and give you some additional leverage, especially in a tight job market. The right follow-up can even help make up for a lackluster interview. Read Follow-up is good form (www.Nurse.com/Cardillo/Good-Form).
Youll find detailed job finding information in The Ultimate Career Guide for Nurses (http://ce.Nurse.com/course/7250/the-ultimate-career-guide-for-nurses-practical-advice-for-thriving-at-every-stage-of-your-career/).
Since networking is a great way to find jobs, be sure to attend local chapter meetings of the American Nurses Association (www.ana.org) and/or the National Federation of LPNs (www.nflpn.org) even as a guest.
You also might consider attending my upcoming Career Alternatives for Nurses seminar in New Jersey on March 25, 2015. I talk extensively about self-marketing including networking and interviewing. I also provide information and contacts for industries and companies that hire LPNs. Learn more about it at (http://www.Nurse.com/events/ce-seminars).
Best wishes,
Donna
