Schervier Nursing Care Center promotes RN to director of nursing

Bon Secours New York Health System’s Schervier Nursing Care Center in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, has promoted Nebuchadrezzar “Joneb” P. Alday, BSN, RN, to director of nursing, according to a news release. He had served as interim director of nursing since August.

“I look forward to leading the nursing team at Schervier,” Alday said in the release. “These are challenging times in healthcare, but every member of the nursing department is dedicated to providing the best care to our patients and residents.”

Alday began his tenure at Schervier Nursing Care Center in June 2012. He previously served in the acute-care setting, most recently at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in the cardiac telemetry/heart failure unit.

“Since joining Schervier, Joneb has been a rising leader in our organization,” Dominic D’Ambrosio, Schervier’s administrator, said in the release. “His hard work, dedication to patient care, commitment to clinical education and dedication to our mission, makes him the ideal choice to oversee nursing services.”

Andrea Weaver, RN

Alday holds a BS in civil engineering from Technological Institute of the Philippines and an accelerated BSN from Dominican College, Blauvelt, N.Y. He is pursuing an MSN specializing in executive leadership and healthcare management from Jacksonville (Fla.) University.

Bon Secours also appointed Andrea Weaver, BS, RN, as director of risk management, quality improvement and corporate responsibility. Weaver assumes the role previously held by Joanne Smith, RN.

Weaver began her tenure at Bon Secours in April of 2012. She served as intake coordinator/RN for Schervier Home Care and most recently as service excellence coordinator for Schervier Nursing Care Center.

“I look forward to taking on the challenges my new role presents,” Weaver said in the release. “I know I can count on every member of our team to carry out our ministry of serving the poor, the sick and the dying with compassion and excellent care.”

Weaver’s new position entails overall responsibility for the risk prevention and quality management functions at Bon Secours New York, including the review, coordination and implementation of programs to ensure regulatory compliance.

“Since joining our team, Andrea has distinguished herself as someone who can always be counted on to deliver,” Carlos Beato, CEO of Bon Secours New York, said in the release. “She is an excellent problem solver, dedicated to serving the customer, and constantly improving the quality of our care.”
