Florida Blue Foundation awards 2014 nursing mini-grants

Four Florida nursing colleges and one community foundation are sharing $213,617 in funding from the Florida Blue Foundation, Jacksonville, through a competitive nursing mini-
grant program.

The University of North Florida, Jacksonville, earned a mini-grant for supporting the Florida Healthcare Simulation Alliance’s goals to accelerate and optimize use of patient simulation labs in nurse education
and training.

The four mini-grants for improving patient access to quality, cost-effective healthcare through changes in nursing and healthcare delivery were awarded as follows:

• Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Inc.
• University of Central Florida Research Foundation, Inc., Orlando
• University of Florida Foundation, Inc. for the UF College of Nursing, Gainesville
• University of Miami

Florida Blue Foundation enables healthy communities by making grants, building coalitions and rewarding best practices. More than 3 million people in Florida have received direct health services as a result of grants made to nonprofit organizations since the establishment of the Florida Blue Foundation in 2001.
