St. Joseph’s healthcare professionals receive NJAHR scholarships

Dawlat Matari-Asmar, BSN, RN, a nurse at St. Joseph’s Wayne (N.J.) Hospital, is one of two healthcare professionals from St. Joseph’s Healthcare System awarded a $1,000 New Jersey Association of Healthcare Recruiters sponsored scholarship.

Matari-Asmar received the Registered Nurse Pursuing an Advanced Degree in Nursing scholarship. She is enrolled in the MSN/FNP degree program at Rutgers University School of Nursing’s Newark campus.

Maria Almonte, a registered medical assistant in the Rainbows of Hope cancer screening program at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Paterson, earned the Allied Health scholarship. She is pursuing an associate’s degree in cardiovascular sonography at Eastwick College’s Ramsey, N.J., campus.

This is the third consecutive year one or more SJHS employees were selected as scholarship recipients, according to a news release.
