Edward Hines VA nurse researcher receives pulmonary scholar award

Eileen Collins, PhD, RN, FAACVPR, FAAN, a research career scientist at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Ill., and professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing, received the Thomas L. Petty Distinguished Pulmonary Scholar Award on Sept. 5 at the annual meeting of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, according to a news release.

The award is presented to an individual who has made significant advances in pulmonary rehabilitation through their research and scholarly contributions. Collins’ contributions have come through her research and scholarly publications, grant funding and scientific presentations. Most recently, she was lead author on the Clinical Competency Guidelines For Pulmonary Rehabilitation Professionals, the position statement of the AACVPR, published in the August 2014 issue of the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention, according to the release.
