UM School of Nursing and Health Studies professor and dean joins Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame

Nilda (Nena) Peragallo Montano, DrPH, RN, FAAN, professor and dean of the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies, was inducted into the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in July at the 24th STTI Nursing Research Congress in Hong Kong, according to an article on the school website.

Montano was honored for her lifetime achievements as a nurse scientist. She is a nationally and internationally recognized nursing scientist specializing in health disparities and culturally competent interventions with minority populations, according to the article. She has devoted her more than 35-year research and academic career to improving the health status of minorities and other medically underserved populations.

The International Researcher Hall of Fame honors nurse researchers who are STTI members, who have achieved significant and sustained national and/or international recognition for their work, and whose research has impacted the profession and the people it serves.
