New version of NursingCAS launches in fall

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing and its partner Liaison International recently announced the latest evolution in nursing’s centralized application service, NursingCAS 3.0. Based on feedback from current and prospective users, the NursingCAS team will launch a new, more user-friendly application Oct. 15.

NursingCAS provides two services, an online application for students and web-based admissions management software for schools.

“As the nation’s only centralized application service for the prospective nursing students, NursingCAS provides a convenient way for individuals to apply to multiple undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs using a single online application,” NursingCAS Director Caroline Allen, MS, said. “Applicants may use this service to research education options, apply to programs of interest, receive news about vacant seats at nursing schools and access real-time updates on the status of their applications.”

NursingCAS verifies the application components for accuracy, calculates grade point averages and sends application materials to the programs designated by the applicant, according to the AACN. Applicants also have access to dedicated customer service support and guidance throughout the process.

Applicants can search for nursing programs offered on campus, online or in a hybrid (online and on campus) format. More than 180 schools participate, and approximately 60 undergraduate and graduate schools nationwide offer online programs through the NursingCAS service.

In the fall, NursingCAS 3.0 will give schools the flexibility to customize program-specific requirement, and schools will be able to decide whether they will require applicants to include course work entries and other items, such as type of transcripts, required course work, customized questions, number of references, number of documents (up to 20) and personal statements.
