Emerson Hospital’s president, CEO earns policy board post

Christine Schuster, RN, MBA, president and CEO of Emerson Hospital, Concord, Mass., has been named to the regional policy board for the New England region by the American Hospital Association, in partnership with the Massachusetts Hospital Association.
Schuster was appointed at MHA’s annual meeting in June, where she received the AHA Political Action Committee Most Valuable PAC Player Award for her leadership in encouraging participation in advocacy to benefit hospitals and patients.
“The patients and communities served by Emerson Hospital have been fortunate to have Chris as their advocate, and now America’s hospitals will benefit from having Chris share her experience and insights as a healthcare leader in her new role as a member of AHA’s regional policy board 1,” John F. Barry, AHA’s regional executive for Region 1, which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, said in a news release.
AHA has nine regional policy boards that meet three times a year to foster communication between and among the AHA, its members and state hospital associations. The boards provide input on public policy issues considered by the AHA board of trustees, serve as ad hoc policy development committees when appropriate, and identify needs unique to a region and assist in developing programs to meet those needs.
