Carroll Hospital RN wins May DAISY award

Tricia Wagman, RN, BSN, CDE, was presented with the May DAISY Award at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Md., according to a hospital news release.

A nurse at the hospital for nearly 30 years, Wagman received the award for her compassion and kindness toward breast cancer patients as a volunteer of the Junior Woman’s Club of Westminster.

For many years, Wagman has worked with the club to make the comfort bags she delivers to breast cancer patients who arrive at the hospital for breast cancer surgery. The bags, containing handmade blankets, goodies and books, have made a tremendous difference to patients by helping to ease their stress during a difficult time, according to the release.

“Tricia’s work ethic is a shining example of nursing at its best,” Stephanie Reid, RN, BSN, MBA, vice president of quality and CNO at Carroll Hospital Center, said in the release. “Her kindness and genuine interest in everyone’s well-being is admirable and most importantly, it comes from the heart,”

Carroll Hospital Center honors outstanding healthcare professionals at the hospital with the DAISY Award. The award is given to an RN or LPN each month to recognize their extraordinary efforts in delivering exceptional patient care.
