Tucson Medical Center nurse earns Mountain West Rising Star Award

Stephanie Miner, RN, BSN, a registered nurse with Tucson (Ariz.) Medical Center was chosen as the new nurse to earn the 2014 Mountain West region Rising Star Award. The new Rising Star Award honors an RN in each region who has been working in a professional nursing setting for five years or less. The winner will have demonstrated strong nursing knowledge and clinical leadership skills and exceeded role expectations in patient care and
professional endeavors.

According to her nominator, Miner continuously works to improve her knowledge and patient care skills. She also looks at the big picture and volunteered to be on the unit-based council. With commitment and enthusiasm, she moved into the role
of co-chairwoman.

She was a key player in rolling out the unit’s pain initiative to help nurses improve their pain assessment skills and provide patients with education on
pain management.

Miner is a passionate volunteer for organizations in her community, including the Junior League, the Komen Race for the Cure and the Ronald McDonald House.
