I am very recently retired. How would I go about obtaining certification to be able to review charts on my computer for insurance companies or lawyers?

Certification is not required to review charts remotely. You already know how to do this as a nurse, and the work often can be more basic than you might imagine. We as nurses often undervalue the vast skill set we already possess.
Since you mention doing work for lawyers and insurance companies, I recommend you contact your local chapter (as well as the national office) of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (www.aalnc.org). Do some informational interviewing with the officers and members to give you a better idea of the day-to-day work involved, resources and support available as well as leads for finding work.
