Joanne Clavelle, RN, DNP, NEA-BC, FACHE, was promoted to senior vice president and chief clinical officer for the Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network on April 1.
Clavelle previously served as senior vice president and chief clinical officer of Scottsdale Healthcare since September 2013, according to a news release.
Creation of a chief clinical officer for the Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network enhances what has been a hallmark of the nursing service at both Scottsdale Healthcare and John C. Lincoln Health Network: nursing excellence, quality patient care and professional nursing practice, Rhonda Forsyth, president, Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network, said in a news release. Joanne brings both leadership and nursing experience to this role.
Clavelle will serve as the senior system nursing executive for the SLHN hospitals, clinics and ambulatory sites. She will be responsible for creating a system infrastructure for Magnet designation, nursing professional education, nursing practice, nursing research, nursing clinical informatics, home care and care coordination in collaboration with her colleagues.
The vice president/chief nursing officers at each site will report dually to Clavelle, for nursing clinical practice, Magnet and nursing patient care policies, and to the site CEOs for overall nursing department operations at the hospital or site. Clavelle also will continue to serve as the system CNO for Scottsdale Healthcare and Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center.

Clavelle received her DNP from Case Western Reserve University, is board certified in nursing administration-advanced, from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
She has more than 35 years of leadership experience in Vermont, Colorado and Idaho leading nursing, patient care and clinical strategies in healthcare organizations and VHA Inc.
