Nyack Hospital Joint Replacement Center earns Joint Commission certification

Nyack (N.Y.) Hospital has been honored with The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for its hip and knee joint replacement program.

The hospital qualified for the certification award by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in disease-specific care.

“In achieving Joint Commission certification, Nyack Hospital has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients with joint replacements,” Jean Range, RN, MS, CPHQ, executive director, disease-specific care certification, for the Chicago-based The Joint Commission, said in a news release.
Nyack Hospital underwent an on-site review in early January.

A Joint Commission expert evaluated Nyack Hospital for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention, leadership and medication management.

“Our success is derived from the smooth synergy of several departments working together,” Barry Kraushaar, MD, co-director of the center, said in the release. “We communicate well, keep track of our progress, set goals and move forward with the trends. Our status as a Center of Excellence is the result of years of refinement in this department.”
