Regarding the Feb. 2 online article, “Critical care nurses call 5 routine practices into question” (www.Nurse.com/Article/Choosing-Wisely), I would like to thank you for placing such an important article on your website. Until now, I was unaware of the Choosing Wisely organization.
I feel that this information can be utilized not only by the physicians, but by the nurses. It is a great way of giving information to our patients to assist them in understanding the options and questions they may have about a procedure and in having the opportunity to choose their care.
It is so important to have our patients as part of the nursing care plan. Doing so allows us to collaborate with our multidisciplinary teams and helps us proactively provide our expertise in what tests or procedures we feel is appropriate or necessary for treatment.
