Letter: Message hits home

Thank you Jill Wall, RN, for sharing the beautiful story of your daughter, Tana (Nov. 11 End of Shift article “She’s Just Perfect” — www.Nurse.com/EOS/Just-Perfect). I teach pediatrics and your story depicts the message I share with my students.

There are two lessons I preach in pediatrics. One, it’s all about encouraging and facilitating a chronically ill child’s ability to reach their maximum potential, which of course, the sky is the limit. And two, let the parents call the shots. No one knows better what is right for their chronically ill child than the parents, whose life mission is to give their child the best of everything.

I will be sharing Jill’s story with my students.
