Saint Xavier Universitys School of Nursing in Chicago recently announced the launch of its 15-month Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing option.
Starting in May 2014, the A-BSN will allow students with baccalaureate degrees to move through the prelicensure program in a reduced timeframe. Students will begin nursing coursework each May and complete the full-time program in 15 months. Prerequisite courses, if needed, may be completed in advance at SXU prior to the May start.
Qualified applicants for the A-BSN option must possess an earned baccalaureate degree from a nationally accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, which includes all prerequisite coursework.
This new accelerated option offers everything our students need to prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century healthcare environment with the added advantage of a shorter timeframe, School of Nursing Dean Gloria Jacobson, RN, PhD, said in a news release.
