You are here:-, Your Stories-Genomics

Regarding the article “Tailored genes” (, I am an RN working with a home-based business that provides a 12-key gene test and then customizes and personalizes nutritional supplements and skincare based on the results of that test.

I got started in this field after reading an article about the University of Miami’s Institute of Genomics and its study of Parkinson’s disease. They are trying to develop therapies for this disease that incorporate both traditional medication and nutrition. This was at least six years ago. I took this test and have been on the customized nutritional supplements for about five years. I can see where genomics will play a role as we assess our patients. There is so much for us to learn; after all, it took 15 years to map the human genome.
