NBNA elects new officers and board members

Several nurses from the West region were among the newly elected officers, members of the board of directors and the nominating committee of the National Black Nurses Association, according to a news release.

“Congratulations to the new officers, board members and nominating committee members in your new roles of service to the NBNA,” said the Rev. Deidre Walton, RN-PHN, MSN, JD, NBNA president, who was elected to a second two-year term. Walton also is the president of Keverdon and Associates, Valencia, Calif.

Monica Ennis, RN, EdD, director of medical professions at the Desert Winds Training Institute, Phoenix, was elected as a new member of the NBNA board of directors.

Continuing board members are:

– Eric J. Williams, RN, DNP, CNE, BNA first vice president and professor of nursing at Santa Monica (Calif.) College.

– Irene Daniels-Lewis, RN, PhD, FAAN, NBNA historian and professor emeritus at the community health/psychiatric faculty group of the school of nursing at San Jose (Calif.) State University.

– Debra A. Toney, RN, BSN, PhD, FAAN, NBNA immediate past president and director of clinical operations at Nevada Health Centers in Las Vegas.

Sandra McKinney, RN, MS, the president and CEO of McKinney & Associates, San Jose, Calif.

Joyce R. Spaulding, RN, MSN, CDE, CNIV and outpatient diabetes educator at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, joins the nominating committee.
