Florida Nurses Association applauds clinical excellence at Martin Health System

Martin Health System, Stuart, Fla., received the 2013 Frances Smith Clinical Excellence Award from the Florida Nurses Association. The FNA recognizes organizations that promote clinical excellence in nursing, demonstrated by participating in the annual FNA Clinical Excellence Conference and creating an environment that encourages nurses to become clinically excellent, according to a news release.

This includes participating in nurse recognition events; demonstrating ongoing education and support for degree and certification programs; clinical ladders; and supporting preceptor and mentoring programs, residencies and specialty institutes.

The system demonstrated support of nursing clinical excellence by providing programs such as the Novice Nurse, an orientation program geared toward the unique needs of new graduates; an emerging leader program for aspiring nurse leaders; oncology and critical care residencies designed to increase knowledge and empower clinical nurses; participating in the American Organization of Nurse Executives Care Innovation and Transformation Initiative program aimed at teaching teams how to innovate and measure change to improve patient care; and a nursing research program.

Individual clinical excellence award recipients from Martin Health were also recognized, including Susan Clark, RN, MSN, CNML; Roseann Maresca, RN, BSN, PCCN; Kim Miller, ARNP, MSN, CPNP; Margot Rabren, RN-BC, BSN; and Barbara Rice, RN, BSN, CCRN.

Martin Health was recognized at the 27th Annual Clinical Excellence Conference on June 14 at The Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach, Fla.
