HackensackUMC Mountainside, Montclair, N.J., has begun the first phase of a three-phase expansion of the hospital’s ED.
The project, expected to take up to three months to complete, will result in an improved triage process and the addition of four rooms, according to a news release.
“We are expanding our services to help more people,” physician Marjory Langer, director of ED, said in the release. “Because we are seeing volumes increase, this expansion will help provide more direct care for these patients, allowing for nurses to be at the bedside. These efforts will also increase the patient flow process in the emergency department. Having more beds will help expand all of our ED services. It will allow us to expedite our patients more effectively.”
The HackensackUMC Mountainside ED has received designation as a Primary Stroke Center and holds the distinction of being licensed by the state to perform emergency angioplasty.
