Benjamin M. Evans, RN, DNP, APN, DD, PMHCNS-BC, assistant professor at William Paterson University Department of Nursing, Wayne, N.J., has been elected to the position of secretary of the American Psychiatric Nurses Associations board of directors.
Evans, who also is president of New Jersey-based HealthStat Consulting LLC, is among four new members elected to the board, the APNA announced July 18 in a news release.
A former president of the APNA New Jersey chapter, Evans has been an active APNA member for more than a decade.
“With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, we are at a pivotal time in reshaping the healthcare delivery system to integrate primary and mental healthcare in the U.S.,” APNA President-Elect Susie Adams, PHMNP-BC, PhD, PMHCNS-BC, FAANP, said in the release. “Through our APNA members expertise in practice, research, administration, and education, and collaboration with other disciplines, collectively we can build best practice models that truly deliver accessible, affordable, effective holistic healthcare.”
Adams serves as the director of the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program at Vanderbilt Universitys School of Nursing, Nashville, Tenn. •
