In 2010, The Institute of Medicine published a report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, which made eight recommendations for nursings future, and the No. 1 recommendation was to remove the barriers to APRN practice.
I support states in aligning their regulations with the 2008 Consensus Model for APRN Regulation: Licensure, Accreditation, Certification and Education.
Through these efforts, we will continue to promote the highest standards of APRN education and practice to protect the public, improve mobility of and access to, safe and competent APRNs.
