Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, N.J., has appointed Donna Ciufo, RN, DNP, as vice president of nursing/CNE.
Ciufo is a longtime member of Meridian Health, having held several leadership positions during the past 12 years. She served for 10 years as senior manager of patient services at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, N.J., and was directly responsible for nursing administration and professional development, overseeing the operation and quality of eight inpatient units and the Family Health Center. She most recently served as corporate director of nursing education for Meridian Health, where she was directly responsible for systemwide orientation, education and continuing education needs of the nursing staff throughout the health system.
“Donna Ciufo has earned this promotion through demonstrated leadership, a passion for delivering exceptional care, and a track record of accomplishments in her time at Meridian Health,” Joseph P. Coyle, president of Southern Ocean Medical Center, said in the release. “I am confident that her leadership and passion for exceptional nursing care will result in continued improved quality and satisfaction for our patients and physicians.”
Ciufo joined the Southern Ocean Medical Center team in February 2013 as interim CNE. She has direct responsibility for nursing operations and patient care and will work closely with physician leaders.
Ciufo has taught as an adjunct clinical instructor at Ocean County College in Toms River, N.J., and Georgian Court University in Lakewood Township, N.J., and serves as a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Organization of Nurse Executives, New Jersey among others.
